Half Year Reflection

The second semester started at the beginning of Febuary, and recently I have thought about my year so far. At first, before moving, I was unsure of what to expect and I thiught I would be dreaded the move. The school I previously went to I thought was a great school, and like most American public schoolers, knew nothing else but to think it was perfect. Only I didn’t know. I realized how isolated suburban America can be from the world. Being able to move and view the world from a different angle has really altered my life, opinions, and beleifs. Also I beleive moving here has been very important in developing into who I will become. Mr. R has really impacted my views and thoughts on the world. So far, in my life, he has been one of the most influential people in teaching me about life skills and broadening and opening my view to the world. Hehas also introduced to me the power that word, pictures , and media can have in influencing what a persons thinks. Before having him as a teacher, I pretty let much the world do its thing and I do mine. Mr. R has really broadened my view on many global issues and opened many doors that I did not know existed. After attending his seminar about Web 2.0, I really realized what he had done for me by opening the doors to Web 2.0.
Being away from the norm of my happy, suburban life has tayght me some things. I have learned to be more open to other cultures and ideas that i may find opposite of mine. I have allowed myself out of the norm, my comfort zone. Living here, just my parents and I, I began to realize to be mor appreciative of people who do things for you, even if thay may be small. It has also shown me to rely less on my posessions and to be more loving and open with the people who are important to you.
I plan on doing more of reflection and writng soon. Like Mr. R has said”, the Internet is a tool to help you. I beleive that is true and with this blog and more frequent writing, I want to be able to look at the world differently.

Today in Class: Feb.20

We talked about:
On Thursday we talk about a lot of topics. Mr. R introduced us to Thought From Within by Woody Harrelson. Along with that, we learned how to understand poetry better. Harrelson poem talked of some of the problems facing our earth yoday. It really conveys the message that he is trying to send well. As Mr.R said, “It will make you a different person”.
I learned today:
Woody’s poem showed me the power you can posess if you are expressive and not allow the world yo pass you by. It also told me, the people you can help, most defiantly should. Harrelson also taught me that what you are able to accomplish, is up to you.
I daydreamed today:
I daydreamed on some of the lines of Thoughts From Within. The points he brought up made me wonder, the way things used to be.
I wanted to say:
What makes the people who say what is right correct? How do we know what to beleive in?

Sports

Dwight Howard, first of all, is an amazing athlete and basktball player. Also, the big guy is a good citizen and helps out in the community. I beleive that shows character, a big time star like that still giving back. He can also dunk like no one you have ever seen before. Howard has a funny and cheerful personality too.
Carlos Lee is also just an amazing athlete. I find him so great because, the way he really tries and works and you know that he is playing purely for the love of the game. One time, during a game, I saw him swing so hard at the ball he fell flat on his but. I really admire those certain athletes who have not sold out and still are playing because they love the game.
T.O. has been a favorite of mine partly because of his sheer athletic ability out on the gridiron. Many people are critical of him for his cockiness and his big mouth. I think he shows a great deal of character to be able to put up with evryone’s mess and still be one of the best playing the game of football right now. If you have not watched him play, you should, because he is quite entertaning.

Why Blog?

What do I want to accomplish?
Hopefully with this blog I will be able to take away a greater understanding of blogging. It could also help me to learn more about the Internet and networking. This blog will allow me to have a place to compile my thoughts and opinions on issues and topics. I want to be able to use technology in a way that i have before. If I use this tool often and effectily, I will be able to develop my writing skills and become more open and expressive to the world. It will help me to find a better meaning to what I think I am.
